Hoof Boot Fitting

Hoof boots are a brilliant innovation for supporting horses and ponies transitioning out of shoes, for rehabilitating issues such as laminitis, and as added protection to enable comfort during ridden and driven work for horses and ponies who need that. They are utilised by endurance riders, show jumpers and happy hackers alike. The best boot is the one that fits your horse well, and by providing sizing and custom fitting services I can make sure that you find the right boots for you and your horse.

As an independent fitter, I am not tied to any brand or boot retailer, which means that I can carry and recommend the boot models that I know offer the best value, durability and usability. With hoof boots becoming more popular, some retailers are listing fitters who might have only attended a single day of training. Having used boots with my own horses for many years, gone on to learn from master hoofboot fitters, and then complete further specialist training with Hoof Boot Farriers Robbie Richardson RSS and Mark Johnson DipWCF, owners can be confident in the services I offer.

Boot fitting

Appointments typically take around 1hr (although this may be longer if customisations are required - see below) and involve a dynamic assessment of the horse's gait, consideration to the purpose of the boots, alongside a fitting using sizing shells. I fit the following brands:

Cavallo (Regular, slim, mini and Big Foot sizes)
Scoot Boot classic (Regular fit and slim)

Flex Boots (Regular and wide)
Equine Fusion (Regular and slim)
Renegade Viper

I keep Scootboots in stock which can be purchased on the day for immediate use.

Boot fittings cost £50 (or half price for trimming clients) within 25 miles of LA12 (15p per mile charge applies thereafter). I can offer customers a 5% discount with retailer Urban Horse for any boots or accessories.

Custom Scootboot Solutions

As a Registered Scootboot Fitter (RSF), having completed the Hoof Boot Farriers course, I also offer bespoke modifications to help hard to fit horses, those in between sizes, or horses needing remedial boots.

Customisations can be made onsite for immediate use and start at £25 per pair for basic alterations/optimisations tailored to the horse. Made to measure internal and external padding and orthotics can also be made, please make contact to discuss your horse's needs.
